Roots in access
Sea League was founded to address inequality in who gets to know the ocean. Ocean recreation in this country has largely been passed down within families who already had it, and that has produced a coastline plenty of kids can see from their classroom and have never once been in. Every part of how we operate — the sliding scale, the weighted lottery, the mentorship model, the locations we choose — exists to change that.
Sailing toward stewardship
Plastic is poison, the ocean is warming, and the fires keep getting bigger. Climate change is frightening — but fear has never been a good way to raise anyone into action. So we teach kids to love the things that make life on this planet possible, on the theory that people protect what they know by name.
The activities we teach also outlast childhood. A kid can't play organized soccer at fifty, but they can absolutely still be surfing, paddling, and free diving — and most of them will be doing it with their own kids.

Sea League is a Wilderness Youth Project
Sea League is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization fiscally sponsored by Wilderness Youth Projects promoting a healthy body, a curious mind, and a reason to protect the coast. Through ocean-based recreation we mentor kids to learn, have fun, and create real relationships.
