Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of sealeague.org (the "Site") and your registration for or participation in any Sea League program. By accessing the Site or registering for a program, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and, if applicable, your child.

1. Eligibility & Registration

Sea League programs are designed for youth ages 6–14. A parent or legal guardian must complete registration on behalf of any participant under 18. Registration, payment, deposits, and cancellation policies are processed through our fiscal sponsor, Wilderness Youth Project's registration system, and you agree to their applicable terms as part of that process. Placement in a program, season, or camp is not confirmed until registration and any required deposit are complete.

2. Fees, Scholarships & Refunds

Program fees are set on a sliding scale based on household size and income, calculated automatically during registration. Specific refund and cancellation timelines are provided at the time of registration and in your program's confirmation materials; where our fiscal sponsor's registration system governs a transaction, its refund policy applies.

3. Assumption of Risk

Sea League programs involve ocean-based recreation, including swimming, surfing, paddling, and related water activities. These activities carry inherent risks, including but not limited to drowning, injury from waves, currents, marine life, or equipment, and exposure to sun and weather. By registering a participant, a parent or guardian acknowledges these risks and agrees to the liability waiver presented during registration. We take safety seriously — our coaches are certified in ocean rescue and we maintain small group sizes — but no amount of preparation can eliminate the inherent risk of ocean activities.

4. Code of Conduct

We expect all participants, parents, guardians, and coaches to treat one another, our staff, and the environment with respect. We reserve the right to remove any individual from a program, without refund, for conduct that endangers the safety or well-being of others.

5. Photo & Media Release

Sea League regularly photographs and films program activities for use on our website, gallery, social media, and promotional materials. Registration includes a separate photo/media consent that a parent or guardian may accept or decline. If you would like a specific photo removed after the fact, contact us and we will address the request promptly.

6. Website Use & Intellectual Property

The Site, including its text, photos, graphics, and logos, is owned by Sea League and Wilderness Youth Project or used under license, and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view and share Site content for personal, non-commercial purposes, but may not reproduce, redistribute, or use it commercially without our written permission.

7. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The Site and its content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sea League and Wilderness Youth Project are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or participation in a program, except as set out in the liability waiver signed at registration or where liability cannot be limited under applicable law.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Santa Barbara County, California.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Site or participation in a program after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Contact
